Malia Sperry, M.Ed, Psy.D.
Dr. Malia Sperry is the founder of La Luna Center. She has both personal and professional experience with eating disorders. Her passion for supporting real and lasting recovery led her to create an intimate, holistic center with a dynamic team of clinicians providing excellent and cutting-edge treatment. Dr. Sperry is a licensed psychologist in the state of Colorado with extensive experience working with Eating Disorders. She has a Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University/ Honolulu. Dr. Sperry integrates cognitive-behavioral, dialectical-behavioral, dynamic, and experiential techniques into her work with individuals, groups, couples and families. Malia’s clients appreciate her expertise, humor and straightforward approach.

Therapists

Michelle L. Fields, M.A., LPC
Michelle Fields has a Master of Arts degree in Contemplative Psychotherapy from Naropa University/Boulder. She joined La Luna Center’s team as an intern and has been with us since. Michelle is experienced in working with disordered eating and body image issues in both group and individual therapy.  Michelle has background in mindfulness practices, meditation and yoga. Her approach to therapy is integrative and draws from contemplative, psychodynamic, and humanistic psychologies. Michelle’s clients appreciate her compassionate, grounded and open presence.

Nicole Rue, Psy.D.
Nicole has a doctoral degree in clinical psychology from the Wright Institute in Berkeley, CA. She has experience working with adolescents and adults with disordered eating and body image issues in both individual and group therapy. Nicole enjoys working with and learning from individuals from diverse backgrounds with a range of presenting concerns. Nicole has training in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing. Her clients appreciate her directness, humor, and authenticity.

Nutrition  

Marla Guzzo, M.A., LPC, CHT, CNT
Marla Konowitch is both a certified nutritionist therapist and a body centered psychotherapist.  She earned her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Regis University, Denver.  She is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Colorado and a Certified Hakomi Psychotherapist focusing on the mind, body, spirit connection. Marla’s passion with the psychological and biological aspects of nourishment led her to the Nutrition Therapy Institute where she completed her nutrition certification.  She has extensive experience working with disordered eating and body image issues in group, individual and family therapy settings. Clients appreciate Marla’s compassion, patience and wisdom.

Anna Coleman, B.A.
Anna has a Bachelor’s Degree in Music from The University of Colorado at Boulder. She is passionate about organization, efficiency and creating a beautiful space. Anna handles scheduling, billing, and insurance issues and regularly interacts in-person and on the phone with all of our clients. She is the backbone of our center and our clients appreciate her warmth, approachability, and attention to detail.

Holly Scanes, Ph.D.
Dr. Holly Scanes received her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology at Colorado State University. She has extensive experience working with adolescents and adults with disordered eating and body image issues in both inpatient and outpatient settings.  Holly’s approach is integrative, with an emphasis on strengths-based techniques.  She places great value on the importance of healthy and nurturing relationships and strongly believes in the healing power of both interpersonal and family-based interventions. Dr. Scanes is a licensed psychologist in the state of Colorado who utilizes a number of therapeutic approaches, including: Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. Holly’s clients appreciate her genuine, kind and direct approach.

Laura Oyer, Ph.D.
Dr. Laura Oyer received her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado. She has experience working with adolescents and adults with disordered eating and body image issues in both inpatient and residential settings. She utilizes an integrative approach, including: Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, and Experiential and Motivational Interviewing techniques. Dr. Oyer is a licensed psychologist in the state of Colorado who values building a strong therapeutic relationship with clients, as well as helping clients feel empowered and find balance in their lives. Her clients appreciate her sincerity, warmth, and knowledge.

Emily Richter, Ph.D.
Dr. Emily Richter received her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado and her M.A. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Colorado. Dr. Richter is a licensed psychologist in the state of Colorado. She has experience working with adults and teens with disordered eating and body image issues  in both outpatient university settings and inpatient psychiatric facilities. Dr. Richter's approach with her clients is integrative and holistic. She utilizes a relational-cultural orientation and incorporates techniques of Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioral Psychotherapy, and Motivational Interviewing, as well as Experiential and Psychodynamic approaches.  Dr. Richter values the therapeutic relationship, instillation of hope, and optimism around recovery. Her clients appreciate her sense of humor, genuineness, and candid approach to therapy

Ainara Echanove, Psy.D.
Dr. Ainara Echanove received her Psy.D in Clinical Psychology from Pacific University and her M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Lewis and Clark College. Dr. Echanove is a candidate for licensure as a psychologist in the state of Colorado. She has experience working with adolescents and adults with disordered eating and body image concerns, and substance use issues in both English and Spanish. Her approach to therapy is integrative and informed by social and culturally relevant perspectives. She utilizes Interpersonal, Motivational, Psychodynamic and Emotion-focused approaches to inform her work with clients. Dr. Echanove emphasizes the therapeutic relationship, self-compassion, empowerment, and optimism in the recovery process. Her clients appreciate her sense of humor, warmth and active approach in therapy.

Chloe Hinton, BA
Chloe Hinton received her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, and is currently working towards her doctorate in Counseling Psychology at the University of Northern Colorado. Her clinical and research interests include body image, children and adolescents, and self harm. She has experience working with adolescents and adults on body image, both in individual and in group settings. Chloe uses an integrated approach, and incorporates person-centered, interpersonal process and emotion-focused techniques. Her clients appreciate her warmth, genuineness, and encouragement.

Nutrition  

Hannah Brass, RDN
Hannah Brass received her Bachelor’s Degree in Human Nutrition from Colorado State University. She then went on to complete her post graduate work through Priority Nutrition Care Dietetic Internship in Boston, MA to become a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist. Hannah provides nutritional support to individuals in the recovery process and promotes an intuitive approach to eating and overall wellness. Hannah creates a collaborative and supportive environment, helping individuals find a balanced relationship with food and a lifestyle that works well for them. She views food as nourishment and fuel for the body. Hannah also enjoys cooking and tasting new foods. .

Allie has a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication from La Sierra University. She is passionate about organization, efficiency and creating a beautiful space.
